Accountant 3 – Construction Projects

About the role

The University of Miami/UHealth Facilities department is seeking a full‑time Accountant 3 to manage the financial aspects of construction and capital projects. The role ensures accurate recording of transactions, prepares financial statements, and supports project managers with budgeting and reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and reconcile project accounts, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded in the general ledger.
• Process project‑related invoices, purchase orders, change orders, and progress payment requests, verifying coding and approvals.
• Prepare balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.
• Collaborate with vendors, contractors, purchasing, and accounts payable to resolve discrepancies and ensure timely payments.
• Assist project managers with budget updates, financial performance analysis, and close‑out procedures.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
• Minimum five years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in construction or capital project environments.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams and mentor junior accountants.
