SPG Segment Lead Accounting Business Partner

About the role

Applied Materials is seeking a seasoned accounting professional to lead the SPG segment balance‑sheet review, pre‑close, and quarter‑end close processes. You will partner with Business Unit Finance, Corporate Accounting, and shared service teams to ensure accurate, timely reporting and drive continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate the consolidated SPG Balance Sheet Review, pre‑close, and quarter‑end close processes.
• Manage SPG close deliverables, including corporate reporting, reserve reviews, inventory reporting, and management review materials.
• Identify accounting, control, and business risks, and communicate actionable insights to partners and leadership.
• Support SOX key controls across SPG, including training, walkthroughs, testing coordination, and remediation.
• Promote consistent application of accounting policies and develop training for SPG Business Units.
• Drive continuous improvement by simplifying, standardizing, and automating recurring accounting and control processes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; CPA preferred (inactive CPA acceptable).
• 8+ years of progressive accounting, finance or controllership experience, preferably in a global technology or semiconductor environment.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, month‑ and quarter‑end close, balance‑sheet reviews and internal‑control requirements.
• Experience with SOX controls, audit support and cross‑functional remediation of control gaps.
