Special Procedure Technologist II – Interventional Radiology

About the role

The Special Procedure Technologist II supports the Interventional Radiology department at the University of Miami by operating radiographic equipment and ensuring high‑quality diagnostic images while minimizing radiation exposure. This full‑time position contributes to patient care throughout complex procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Verify patient identity and clinical history before each procedure.
• Assist with patient interviews, documentation, and informed consent.
• Prepare patients, maintain sterile and aseptic techniques, and position them for imaging.
• Operate radiographic equipment to acquire diagnostic images and scout films.
• Apply radiation protection principles for patients, staff, and self.
• Provide necessary supplies and support to the radiologist during procedures.
• Monitor patient status, respond to emergencies, and initiate life‑support measures when required.
• Maintain knowledge of patient monitoring devices and educate patients as needed.
• Adhere to university policies, safeguard assets, and promote efficient workflow.

Required profile

• Associate degree in a relevant field.
• Minimum two years of experience in radiographic or interventional imaging.
• Applicable certifications as defined by the department.
• Demonstrated learning agility, teamwork, and technical proficiency.
