Special Events Worker I

About the role

Join Georgetown University’s campus operations team as a Special Events Worker I. You will provide hands‑on support for academic, social, and cultural events across the Hilltop and Capitol campuses, ensuring equipment and spaces are set up safely and efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Set up and break down tables, chairs, podiums, stages, coat racks, and other event equipment.
• Transport, load, unload, and re‑assemble furniture and boxes using carts, dollies, hand trucks, and pallet jacks.
• Install temporary flooring such as protective carpet tiles and move furniture between departments and storage areas.
• Perform custodial duties including floor care, classroom and restroom cleaning, and snow/ice removal when needed.
• Report missing, broken, or unsafe equipment and follow all safety protocols.

Required profile

• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull heavy items safely.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a clean, organized environment.
• Willingness to work independently or as part of a team of 5‑10 event workers.
• Flexibility to respond to emergency situations such as spills, flooding, or snow removal.

Required skills

• Proficiency with power tools for assembling and disassembling furniture.
• Experience operating moving equipment (carts, dollies, hand trucks, pallet jacks).
