Special Education Teacher (SPED NT) – Augusta YDC, GA

About the role

The State of Georgia is seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher (SPED NT) to join the Augusta Youth Development Center. Working under the direction of a supervisor, you will develop and deliver lesson plans tailored to students with disabilities, fostering both academic and social growth.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direct and indirect instructional support in a positive learning environment.
• Design and modify curriculum using multi‑sensory techniques, phonetics, and repetition to meet individual IEP goals.
• Teach socially acceptable behaviors and implement positive behavioral support systems.
• Develop accommodations and differentiated instruction for access to the general education curriculum.
• Maintain annual review and eligibility logs, submitting them promptly to the Special Education Curriculum Specialist.
• Collect and report data for Students with Disabilities (SWD) eligibility and progress monitoring.
• Plan balanced instructional activities, demonstrations, and work time.
• Establish classroom rules and procedures to ensure a conducive learning environment.
• Collaborate with parents, administrators, and professionals to develop and review IEPs.
• Maintain accurate student records and documentation.

Required profile

• Experience working with students who have disabilities.
• Ability to develop, modify, and implement individualized instructional programs.
• Strong communication skills for collaboration with parents, staff, and specialists.
• Organizational skills to maintain logs, records, and timely reporting.
