Spanish Language Teacher – UN Department of Operational Support

About the role

The United Nations Language and Communications Training Unit is seeking an experienced Spanish Language Teacher to deliver high‑quality language and communication courses to staff worldwide. The role involves teaching, curriculum design, and programme management within the Department of Operational Support.

Key responsibilities

• Teach Spanish at all proficiency levels, including specialised communication courses for native and non‑native speakers.
• Develop and deliver face‑to‑face, blended and online courses, creating curricula, materials, assessments and examinations.
• Design and conduct communication‑skills workshops tailored to UN offices, departments and agencies.
• Manage the Spanish Language Programme, including scheduling, recruitment of part‑time teachers and evaluation processes.
• Participate in LCTU projects, client consultations and meetings to address language‑learning needs.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in language teaching, applied linguistics, communication or education.
• Minimum five years of experience teaching Spanish to adult learners in multicultural settings.
• At least three years recent experience in curriculum development, language‑exam design or teacher training.
• Proficiency in English and Spanish at UN Level II or higher.
