About the role

Join Philips as a Software Systems Engineering Co‑op in Plymouth, MN, starting January 2027. You will work within the Image Guided Therapy Devices Software R&D group, contributing to the IVUS Clinical Imaging Software Application. This 6‑month paid position offers hands‑on experience in medical‑device software engineering.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with Software Systems Engineering and R&D teams to define and allocate system requirements.
• Assist with system decomposition, requirement traceability, and documentation.
• Apply systems‑engineering methods and tools to manage software requirements.
• Support reviews of design specifications, interfaces, and potential solutions under guidance.
• Document stakeholder feedback and software‑user interaction models.
• Complete required regulatory and quality‑system training.
• Prepare and deliver an end‑of‑assignment presentation summarising work and learnings.

Required profile

• Pursuing a B.S. or M.S. in systems, computer, biomedical, electrical engineering or a related field.
• Interest in medical‑device software, systems engineering, risk management, or product development.
• Basic exposure to software development concepts and languages such as C++, Java, C#, or Python.
• Understanding of software life‑cycle, agile methods, or new product development.
• Strong problem‑solving, analytical, communication, technical writing and presentation skills.
• Willingness to work onsite at the Plymouth, MN location.
