Software Engineer Intern (Summer 2027)

About the role

Saronic Technologies is seeking a motivated Software Engineer Intern for the summer of 2027. You will work on real‑world challenges that directly contribute to autonomous surface vessels, gaining hands‑on experience in software development, testing, and integration alongside seasoned engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement, and test software components for autonomous systems, including navigation algorithms, sensor integration, and communication protocols.
• Collaborate with the team to develop and optimise real‑time decision‑making, path‑planning, and object‑detection algorithms.
• Assist in building testing frameworks and participate in hardware‑in‑the‑loop (HIL) testing to validate software performance.
• Create technical documentation such as design specifications, user manuals, and test plans.
• Work closely with mechanical, electrical, and systems engineers to ensure seamless software‑hardware integration.

Required profile

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical/Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Programming experience in Python, C++, Typescript, Javascript, or Rust.
• Basic understanding of robotics, autonomous systems, and sensor technologies.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced, onsite environment (May‑August 2027, 40 hours/week).
