About the role

Sage Care is building AI‑powered care navigation platforms that help patients find the right doctors and enable providers to focus on those who need them most. We are looking for a Software Engineer to develop the systems behind our AI agents and turn production conversations into measurable improvements.

Key responsibilities

• Design and build agent systems for complex healthcare workflows such as scheduling and medication refills.
• Develop reusable orchestration, tool‑use, conversation‑state, and recovery approaches that work across multiple health‑system partners.
• Build pipelines that analyze production conversations, identify recurring failures, and generate evaluation datasets.
• Create evaluation frameworks to measure agent quality, detect regressions, and translate findings into production improvements.
• Collaborate with researchers to bring promising techniques into production while balancing quality, latency, and cost.

Required profile

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, including building and operating AI production systems.
• Strong backend engineering skills and a track record of making architecture decisions for substantial technical projects.
• Deep experience in either production AI agents/orchestration or ML pipelines, evaluation, and feedback systems.
• Hands‑on experience with LLM‑based applications and an understanding of their behavior and limitations.
