Software Development Engineer III – AWS IAM Identity

About the role

Amazon Web Services is seeking an experienced Software Development Engineer III to join the IAM Control Plane team. You will help build the next‑generation onboarding components and core storage fleet management for a globally distributed identity service.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deliver core storage fleet management components, including fleet provisioning, failure remediation, data replication, and disaster recovery.
• Own the full software development lifecycle for globally distributed backend stores, from definition to testing and deployment.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure high scalability, low latency, and high availability of IAM services.
• Mentor junior engineers, contribute to sprint planning, and influence roadmap decisions.
• Identify and solve customer problems with data‑driven, maintainable solutions.

Required profile

• 5+ years of professional software development experience.
• Proven experience leading design or architecture of scalable systems.
• Experience mentoring or acting as a technical lead.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.

Required skills

• Software development in at least one programming language.
• System design and architecture patterns.
• Distributed systems and cloud computing concepts.
• Experience with AWS services, particularly IAM.
