Social Media & Content Creation Intern

About the role

Big Heavy World is looking for a motivated intern to support its production and social media teams. You will create press releases, blog posts, and multi‑part social media campaigns that promote independent music and documentary projects.

Key responsibilities

• Write and edit press releases from raw promotional material.
• Transform press releases into conversational blog posts.
• Design and schedule multi‑part social media campaigns.
• Attend live radio interviews with local musicians and produce short blog‑style reflections.
• Consolidate a monthly independent music blog into a single website post.
• Proofread documentary transcripts to support film projects.
• Mentor volunteer writers, helping them adopt the organization’s editorial style.
• Assist with outreach to community volunteers and students.

Required profile

• Enrolled in a college or university program and eligible for academic credit.
• Strong interest in music, media, and storytelling.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Commitment to a substance‑free workplace and regular attendance at crew meetings.
