About the role
The Small Parts Infusion – Composites Technician will work on high‑performance composite components for autonomous maritime vessels. The role focuses on small to medium‑sized parts, using vacuum‑assisted resin transfer molding and related infusion techniques to ensure product reliability and performance.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare molds and tooling for composite lay‑up and infusion.
- Perform precise hand lay‑ups using dry fiber materials.
- Set up and execute vacuum‑assisted resin infusion processes (VARTM, LRTM).
- Mix and handle resins, hardeners, and MEKP according to safety protocols.
- Trim, demold, and finish components to required tolerances.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safety‑compliant workspace.
- Document work, interpret technical drawings, and collaborate with engineering and quality teams.
Required profile
- 2+ years of hands‑on experience with composite manufacturing, especially resin infusion in a boat‑building environment.
- Strong attention to detail, manual dexterity, and a quality‑first mindset.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast‑paced, iterative setting.
- U.S. Person (citizen or permanent resident) required for DoD contract work.
- Commitment to safety protocols and clean‑room or controlled‑environment practices.
Required skills
- Vacuum‑assisted resin transfer molding (VARTM).
- Low‑pressure resin transfer molding (LRTM).
- Vacuum bagging and mold preparation.
- Resin mixing (vinyl ester, polyester, MEKP).
- Carbon‑fiber and dry‑fiberglass handling.
- Use of trimming tools, grinders, and measurement instruments.
- Technical drawing interpretation.
- Tablet‑based process documentation.
