Shift Group Leader – Wyandotte Plant

About the role

The Shift Group Leader at BASF’s Wyandotte Dispersions & Resins (WYDR) facility in Michigan is responsible for safe, efficient production and the development of a high‑performing operator team.

Key responsibilities

• Lead Chemical Plant Operators to achieve excellence in productivity, quality, safety, reliability and EHS performance.
• Execute the daily production schedule, adjust operator assignments, monitor progress and resolve deviations to ensure on‑time performance.
• Assess operator capabilities, provide coaching, training and recognition to raise technical competency.
• Supervise daily shift activities, reinforce proper EHS behaviors and foster accountability.
• Support CHAMPS safety initiatives, conduct safety contacts and encourage observations.
• Participate in contractor planning, walk‑downs and EHS monitoring to improve project execution.
• Lead investigations of incidents and drive corrective actions.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading teams in a chemical manufacturing environment.
• Strong focus on safety and EHS compliance.
• Ability to coach, train and develop operators.
• Excellent problem‑solving and decision‑making skills.
• Effective communication and collaboration across functions.
