Senior Underwriting & Portfolio Management Specialist

About the role

Santander is seeking a Senior Underwriting & Portfolio Management Specialist to support commercial loan underwriting in the United States. The role involves collaborating with underwriters to analyze, process, and package loan applications while ensuring compliance with agency guidelines.

Key responsibilities

• Collect, package, review, and reconcile loan application documents, including financial and credit exhibits.
• Order and perform preliminary reviews of third‑party reports (appraisals, inspections, environmental) for guideline compliance.
• Analyze, interpret, and underwrite complex commercial transactions.
• Conduct economic and demographic research to assess transaction feasibility.
• Assist in preparing comprehensive loan approval packages for credit committee presentation.
• Perform physical asset inspections as required.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant underwriting or portfolio management experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
• Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced environment and collaborate effectively with teams.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.
