Senior Systems Engineer – Healthcare & Life Sciences

About the role

Qumulo is seeking a senior technical lead to drive storage solutions for healthcare, life‑science and pharmaceutical customers. You will partner with sales and customers throughout the sales cycle, from discovery to proof‑of‑concept, designing architectures that meet clinical, research and regulated‑environment requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Own the technical relationship on healthcare and life‑science opportunities, guiding customers from discovery through demos, POCs and architecture sign‑off.
• Partner with account teams to qualify deals and shape technical strategies for medical imaging, genomics, drug discovery and clinical‑trial data workloads.
• Design architectures that address data sovereignty, audit trails, disaster recovery, high availability and secure multi‑site collaboration.
• Build credibility with healthcare IT directors, research informatics teams, compliance officers and clinical application owners.
• Create and maintain technical artefacts such as reference architectures, compliance briefs and solution documentation.

Required profile

• 8+ years in a customer‑facing technical role (Systems Engineer, Solutions Architect or Healthcare Solutions Engineer) with at least 4 years focused on healthcare, life‑science or pharma.
• Proven track record leading complex pre‑sales engagements in regulated environments.
• Experience engaging clinical, research, IT, compliance and executive audiences.

Required skills

• Unstructured data storage technologies: NFS, SMB, object storage.
• Healthcare data workflows: DICOM, PACS, VNA, EMR/EHR.
• Genomics and bioinformatics formats: FASTQ, BAM, VCF.
• Regulatory knowledge: HIPAA, HITECH, FDA 21 CFR Part 11, GxP.
• Familiarity with HL7, FHIR, cloud and hybrid architectures for regulated data.
