Senior Structures Engineer – Portable Nuclear Reactor

About the role

Radiant Industries is developing the world’s first mass‑produced, portable nuclear microreactors. The Senior Structures Engineer will lead the design and development of critical structural components for the Kaleidos 1‑MW reactor, ensuring they meet extreme temperature, safety, and volume requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Own design of transportable shielding, container systems, and high‑temperature graphite and metallic structures.
• Conduct trade studies and develop concepts that satisfy program requirements.
• Perform detailed thermomechanical, static strength, durability/fatigue, vibration and shock analyses using hand calculations and finite‑element tools.
• Create manufacturing and assembly instructions, test plans, and manage Bill‑of‑Materials (BOM).
• Identify and qualify suppliers, schedule sub‑assembly design, production, and testing.
• Lead risk assessments (FMEA) for subsystems and communicate requirements across interdisciplinary teams.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aeronautical, Civil or Structural Engineering.
• 6+ years of experience designing structural systems.
• 4+ years of experience performing stress analysis with hand calculations and finite‑element software (Abaqus, Ansys, FEMAP or similar).
