Senior Structural Rack Engineer

About the role

Dematic is seeking a Senior Structural Rack Engineer to lead North America racking and structural engineering initiatives. This hands‑on, project‑based position involves concept development, design, installation and commissioning of industrial steel storage racks and ASRS structures.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate racking and structural engineering projects, managing budgets and schedules.
• Develop and review system‑level and component‑level structural designs, ensuring code compliance, safety and sustainability.
• Perform structural analysis, steel and connection design, and create 3D models and technical documentation.
• Collaborate with sales, manufacturing, purchasing, quality, safety, site managers, subcontractors and customers to ensure successful project execution.
• Support product development, design validation and testing, and provide technical leadership and mentoring to other engineers.

Required profile

• B.S. in Civil or Mechanical Engineering (structural emphasis preferred); Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• 8+ years of progressive structural engineering experience, preferably in material handling or industrial steel structures.
• Proven ability to solve complex, cross‑functional engineering problems and manage multiple priorities.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with confidence to engage at all organizational levels.

Required skills

• AutoCAD
• RISA 2D/3D or equivalent structural analysis software
• Tekla Structures (or willingness to learn)
• Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
• Knowledge of AISC LRFD, AISI cold‑formed steel, RMI rack specifications, FEM 9.831/9.832, US seismic and building codes
