Senior Stress Engineer

About the role

Airbus Commercial Aircraft seeks a Senior Stress Engineer to join the Engineering department in Wichita, Kansas. You will perform complex static stress analyses for metallic and composite aircraft structures, collaborating closely with design and fatigue teams.

Key responsibilities

• Autonomously conduct complex static analyses to verify structural integrity and meet certification requirements.
• Document analyses for trade studies, detail drawing sign‑off, and in‑service support.
• Collaborate with Design, Fatigue and other departments to develop optimal structural solutions.
• Mentor less‑experienced analysts and lead technical presentations.
• Guide projects to successful completion and act as key technical contact on contracts.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Civil or related engineering.
• Minimum 9 years of experience in airframe static stress analysis.
• Proven ability to work independently and in fast‑paced team environments.
• Authorized to work in the United States.

Required skills

• Classical hand calculations and numerical (Finite Element) stress analysis methods.
• Proficiency with NASTRAN, PATRAN and CATIA.
• Strong computer skills, including MS Excel and Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Gmail).
• Experience with airframe design, SRM, MRB, certification standards (FAR/JAR/CS/Part 21).
