Senior Specialty Mechanical Equipment Engineer (Hybrid/Remote)

About the role

Amentum Nuclear Projects, a Tier 1 service provider to the U.S. Department of Energy, is seeking a Senior Specialty Mechanical Equipment Engineer to support its Nuclear Projects – Oak Ridge Group. The engineer will be knowledgeable in specialty machinery design, work in Oak Ridge, TN with potential travel, and report to the company's quality procedures. The stated pay range is $140,000 - $200,000.

Key responsibilities

• Design specialty mechanical equipment and machines, including machine design, selection of machine elements (bearings, seals, etc.) and machine controls (hydraulic, electrical, etc.)
• Create and review complex mechanical calculations
• Mentor specialty mechanical engineers and designers
• Manage the scope, schedule and budget of individual projects
• Communicate complex ideas to management and clients
• Follow established quality procedures and work within a quality system based on ISO 9000 or NQA-1

Required profile

• 15 or more years of experience; a Master's degree is a plus
• B.S. in Engineering from an ABET-accredited engineering school
• U.S. citizenship required; valid driver's license required
• Ability to work in the Oak Ridge office and attend as needed; commutable distance from the Oak Ridge office preferred
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug and background check

Required skills

• SOLIDWORKS, Creo, ANSYS and other CAD/CAE software
• Microsoft Office
• Knowledge of machine design, machine elements and machine controls
