Mid-Level Piping Engineer (Oak Ridge) - Hybrid/Remote

About the role

Amentum is hiring a mid-level piping engineer for its Oak Ridge, Tennessee site, working in a hybrid or remote arrangement. The engineer designs pressure piping systems and works with multidisciplinary teams, with intermittent travel to the office that is not mandatory.

Key responsibilities

• Perform hydraulic calculations, equipment sizing, stress analysis, pressure relief and standard pipe support calculations
• Generate piping specifications in accordance with ANSI B31.3 and ANSI B31.9
• Design pressure piping systems and associated equipment and work with multidisciplinary teams to plan work
• Review constructability of drawing packages and at site locations
• Select pipe supports from catalog supports and design engineered supports when required
• Generate piping insulation and painting specifications and perform piping safety reviews
• Assist in developing general arrangement drawings

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science (BS) or higher in Mechanical Engineering
• 5 years of engineering experience preferred
• Less than 10% travel; U.S. citizenship required
• Candidates local to Oak Ridge, TN are preferred, but non-local candidates with applicable experience are encouraged to apply
• Valid driver's license, ability to work in a team, and willingness to pass a pre-employment drug and background check
