Senior Software Engineer – Storage Infrastructure

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join Cogent’s Core Platform team and own the storage, protection, and operation of data at scale. You will design and build the backup, observability, and operations layer across relational, streaming, and analytical stores, making the system ready for AI‑driven security agents.

Key responsibilities

• Standardize backup, restore, retention, and encryption policies across Aurora/RDS, Clickhouse, and AWS MSK.
• Build storage observability dashboards covering capacity, performance, replication lag and cost.
• Create a Storage Operations Agent to automate incident triage, slow‑query investigation and remediation workflows.

Required profile

• 3‑6 years of experience at a successful tech company, with deep hands‑on work on Aurora RDS, Clickhouse, Kafka/AWS MSK and PostgreSQL.
• Strong coding skills in Python and Golang and infrastructure‑as‑code expertise with Terraform.
• Experience with lake‑house table formats such as Iceberg and familiarity with object and analytical storage services (S3, GCS, BigQuery, Athena, Presto, Parquet).
• Bonus: background in data‑focused startups and exposure to vector or graph stores (VectorDB, Turbopuffer, Puppygraph).
