Senior Software Engineer Specialist

About the role

The Senior Software Engineer/Specialist will design, develop, and maintain complex software systems supporting Department of Defense operations. This remote position requires independent problem‑solving, collaboration with cross‑functional teams, and leadership of small project activities.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain moderate‑complexity applications using Python, Java, or C++ while adhering to DoD security standards.
• Develop and execute test plans, conduct code reviews, and resolve defects to ensure high‑quality, reliable software.
• Lead small teams on low‑complexity project tasks, providing technical guidance and ensuring timely delivery.
• Collaborate with systems engineers, cybersecurity specialists, and project managers to define requirements and align solutions with stakeholder goals.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, system designs, workflows, and test plans.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
• 4+ years of relevant software development experience.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities and capacity to work independently on moderately complex assignments.
• Experience with DoD software development standards and secure coding practices is preferred.
