Senior Slip Ring Design Engineer

About the role

Moog’s Space & Defense team in Blacksburg, VA is seeking a Senior Slip Ring Design Engineer to lead the development of high‑reliability slip ring assemblies for aerospace and defense applications. You will work on complex electromechanical systems, collaborating with cross‑functional teams to translate customer requirements into production‑ready designs.

Key responsibilities

• Define concepts, requirements, and design solutions across mechanical, thermal, and electrical domains.
• Interpret customer specifications and serve as the primary technical liaison with suppliers and customers.
• Develop detailed 3‑D models, perform FEA, and apply GD&T for production drawings.
• Review peer designs and documentation for completeness and accuracy.
• Coordinate with designers, manufacturing engineers, quality engineers, and technical writers throughout the product lifecycle.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of experience designing precision rotating electromechanical equipment.
• Strong knowledge of machining, manufacturing capabilities, and drafting standards.
• Experience with rugged‑environment mechanical design and military‑grade standards (MIL‑SPEC).
