Category Buyer – General Procurement

About the role

The Category Buyer in General Procurement will lead indirect procurement activities for Airbus Americas, focusing on the Local Operation commodity. This role ensures compliance with the General Procurement process and drives strategic sourcing, supplier management and cross‑functional projects across North America.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute regional market strategies aligned with global objectives, emphasizing cost‑efficiency, quality and long‑term supply partnerships.
• Conduct market research and supplier mapping to identify new partners and assess risk/performance of existing suppliers.
• Support internal customer teams by providing data on local suppliers and shaping sourcing strategies.
• Maintain two‑way communication with functional and local customers, integrating assigned commodities worldwide.
• Lead the full procurement lifecycle, including tendering, complex negotiations and contract implementation.
• Monitor supplier performance through KPI tracking and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Ensure all procurement activities comply with internal policies, legal requirements and ethical standards.
• Develop procurement plans to meet savings targets and escalate issues to the Regional Director as needed.
• Provide leadership and coaching to less experienced team members.
• Drive compliance to Airbus General Procurement processes and related tools.

Required profile

• Proven experience in indirect procurement and category management.
• Strong background in supplier relationship management and market intelligence.
• Ability to lead and coach junior team members.
• Excellent communication skills for interaction with internal customers and cross‑functional stakeholders.
• Knowledge of procurement policies, legal requirements and ethical guidelines.
