Senior Systems Engineer

About the role

Moog’s Space & Defense group is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to join its Blacksburg, VA team. Reporting to the Engineering Director, you will design and develop complex rotary‑servo motion assemblies for high‑reliability military and aerospace applications.

Key responsibilities

• Lead system design of rotary‑servo motion assemblies for harsh environments.
• Define concepts and requirements across mechanical, structural dynamics, electrical, thermal and motion disciplines.
• Predict system‑level performance and select optimal approaches.
• Manage an integrated product development team to ensure timely project completion.
• Track progress, report status to senior management, and interpret customer specifications.
• Prepare statements of work, product specifications, and act as primary technical interface with suppliers and customers.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical or aeronautical engineering.
• At least 5 years of experience designing and analyzing precision electromechanical equipment.
• Proven experience in mechanical design/packaging and strong electrical and analytical abilities.
• Team‑oriented work style with experience using CAD/CAE tools (UG NX preferred).
• Experience with motion simulations and knowledge of motion‑control techniques is a plus.
