Senior Repair Plans Engineer (Civil Engineer IV)

About the role

The Senior Repair Plans Engineer is responsible for the structural analysis and design of complex bridge repair and rehabilitation projects for the State of Illinois. This senior position leads the development of emergency repair plans and ensures structural adequacy of repair designs.

Key responsibilities

• Develop structural repairs for highly complex bridge structures using innovative procedures and current technology.
• Prepare emergency repair plans for structures damaged by vehicles or river traffic.
• Review and approve repair and retrofit details prepared by other engineers, consultants, or district personnel.
• Provide expertise on defects identified during annual joint maintenance inspections of major river structures.
• Conduct field investigations of damaged or deteriorated structures and recommend corrective actions.
• Review contractor proposals involving shoring, bracing, and jacking methods and approve or reject them.

Required profile

• Current registration as a Licensed Professional Engineer or Licensed Structural Engineer in Illinois.
• Minimum of four years of relevant experience in bridge repair design and structural analysis.
• Ability to perform duties in compliance with departmental safety rules and equitable treatment standards.
