Senior Product Manager, AI
buildout
Job description
About the role
Buildout is building the Broker Operating System for commercial real estate and needs a senior product manager to own the AI strategy and roadmap. You will shape the AI assistant that powers broker workflows, from marketing materials to document creation, while collaborating closely with engineering and design.
Key responsibilities
- Set the vision, strategy, and roadmap for AI, deciding which skills to build and in what order.
- Spend time with customers to observe workflows, test AI skills, and feed insights into the roadmap.
- Prioritize the backlog based on broker value, feasibility, and quality risk, managing concepts through launch.
- Define evaluation criteria and maintain quality bars for AI skills, reviewing regressions before releases.
- Determine when to use deterministic logic versus LLMs for each skill.
- Design prompts, context, and retrieval mechanisms, improving them based on measured evaluations.
- Establish guardrails such as grounding, permission‑scoping, hallucination controls, and rollback plans.
- Translate broker workflows into clear specifications for engineering.
- Measure product outcomes (adoption, task success) and model quality (accuracy, groundedness, regression rate) while monitoring latency and cost.
Required profile
- Extensive product discovery experience, regularly interviewing users and validating assumptions before engineering.
- Pragmatic AI mindset, knowing when deterministic logic is preferable to LLMs.
- Hands‑on builder who prototypes ideas quickly using tools like Claude, Cursor, or Replit.
- Data‑driven decision maker who defines success metrics and uses customer feedback.
- Comfortable navigating ambiguity and making trade‑offs in fast‑evolving technology.
- Strategic yet hands‑on, linking long‑term vision with tactical execution.
Required skills
- 5+ years product management experience, including 1‑2 AI/ML or LLM‑powered features shipped.
- Proficiency with rapid prototyping tools such as Claude, Cursor, Replit.
- Experience with prompt engineering, context engineering, and retrieval‑augmented generation (RAG).
- Strong product discovery skills: customer interviews, problem validation, roadmap translation.
- Ability to partner closely with engineering and design in a fast‑paced environment.
What we offer
- Competitive salary $150k‑$170k plus bonus.
- Comprehensive medical, dental, vision coverage and HSA seed.
- Flexible PTO, 14 paid holidays, parental leave, and wellness stipend.
- 401(k) with 4% company match and immediate vesting.
- Fully remote work with annual home‑office stipend and yearly in‑person kickoff.
- Supportive, quirky culture encouraging whole‑self participation.
