Senior Planning Associate – Puget Sound Market Leader

About the role

Alta Planning + Design is seeking an experienced Senior Planning Associate to lead its Puget Sound market. Based in Seattle, the role focuses on sustainable transportation projects that improve community health, equity, and mobility across the Pacific Northwest.

Key responsibilities

• Lead regional, city, and district transportation and safety plans, corridor studies, and site‑level concept development.
• Manage project schedules, budgets, and deliverables from planning and analysis through preliminary design.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to project teams on active transportation, TDM, analytics, multimodal safety, greenways, and sustainable mobility.
• Implement best practices and process improvements to increase project delivery efficiency.
• Engage with stakeholders, facilitate community outreach, and incorporate feedback into planning solutions.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in transportation planning or related fields.
• Proven track record delivering complex transportation or safety plans.
• Strong understanding of active transportation, TDM, and sustainable mobility concepts.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Ability to work independently and lead multidisciplinary teams.
