Senior Occupational Nurse Practitioner – Freeport, TX

About the role

Join BASF’s Freeport site as a Senior Occupational Nurse Practitioner, leading occupational health programs to ensure a safe and healthy workplace. You will work closely with site leadership, EHS, and HR to protect employee wellbeing.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct pre‑employment, annual physical exams, medical history reviews, and fitness‑for‑work evaluations while maintaining confidential records.
• Develop and implement health and safety programs to prevent occupational injuries and illnesses.
• Provide first‑aid, clinical care, and emergency response support for on‑site incidents, including chemical spills.
• Educate employees on ergonomics, stress management, mental health, and coordinate wellness initiatives such as health fairs and immunization clinics.
• Manage return‑to‑work cases, support Workers’ Compensation processes, and advocate for safe working conditions.
• Interpret occupational health data (spirometry, audiometric testing) and apply findings to clinical decisions.
• Collaborate with BASF Corporate Medical, EHS, HR, external healthcare partners, and designated physicians to ensure compliance with medical protocols.

Required profile

• Advanced nursing degree with Nurse Practitioner certification.
• Extensive experience in occupational health nursing, preferably in an industrial or chemical environment.
• Strong knowledge of site‑specific hazards and chemicals such as ammonia, formaldehyde, benzene, and acrylonitrile.
• Ability to maintain confidential medical records and comply with regulatory standards.
