Phlebotomist 1 – Full‑Time, 1st Shift

About the role
The University of Miami Health Laboratories is seeking a full‑time Phlebotomist 1 to join the U‑Tower Hospital team. Working the 1st shift (4 am – 12:30 pm), you will draw blood, verify patient records, and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis while providing compassionate care.
Key responsibilities
- Perform patient phlebotomy following the department’s procedure manual.
- Prioritize hematology and oncology specimens and manage pre‑accession tasks.
- Verify patient identity, answer test‑related queries, and resolve specimen issues.
- Maintain inventory, rotate stock, and keep accurate logs and files.
- Assist the supervisor with statistical reporting and generate required reports.
- Process cancellations, credits, and additions of test procedures.
Required profile
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Phlebotomist certification, HIV certification, and BLS certification (AHA).
- Minimum one year of relevant phlebotomy experience.
- Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as needed.
