Senior Manager, Tax

About the role

This senior‑level position leads the end‑to‑end tax function for a fast‑growing, remote‑first digital health company in the United States. You will combine strategic oversight with hands‑on execution across federal, state, and multistate tax obligations, ensuring compliance, optimizing tax strategy, and supporting expansion into new markets and products.

Key responsibilities

• Lead U.S. federal and state income tax compliance, franchise tax, and ASC 740 tax provision preparation.
• Oversee multistate indirect tax compliance, including sales and use tax, nexus assessments, registrations, filings, and audit defense.
• Manage relationships with external tax advisors and auditors to ensure timely, cost‑effective delivery.
• Serve as the primary tax advisor across Finance, Legal, Product, FP&A, and People teams.
• Design, implement, and maintain SOX‑compliant tax processes, controls, and documentation.
• Identify tax optimization opportunities such as credits, incentives, and process improvements.
• Develop and execute a multi‑year tax roadmap aligned with company growth.

Required profile

• 8+ years of progressive tax experience, including in‑house work at a high‑growth or complex organization.
• Strong exposure to both direct (ASC 740, federal/state income tax) and indirect (multistate sales/use tax) tax domains.
• CPA certification or equivalent (JD/LL.M. in Tax).
• Proven ability to manage external advisors and lead cross‑functional collaboration.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and stakeholder communication skills.
