Senior Manager – State & Local Tax (Asset Management)

About the role

KPMG is seeking a Senior Manager to join its State and Local Tax (SALT) practice, focusing on asset‑management clients. The role combines compliance, advisory, planning and controversy work for multi‑state companies.

Key responsibilities

• Provide tax compliance services to partnerships for asset‑management clients.
• Deliver client service on multi‑state tax compliance, advisory, planning, technology and controversies.
• Assist with tax controversies, represent clients at hearings and prepare protests.
• Research and draft technical memoranda on state and local tax questions.
• Support business development and oversee large client engagements.
• Supervise, mentor and develop staff members and teams.

Required profile

• Minimum five years recent experience in multi‑state tax research and advice.
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
• Licensed CPA, EA, JD/LLM, MTX or equivalent credential (or obtain within one year of hire).
• Ability to develop business and foster client relationships.
• Strong writing, communication and tax research skills.
