Senior Manager - Environmental Health and Safety

About the role

Agropur is looking for a Senior Manager, Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) in Appleton, WI or Eden Prairie, MN. The role leads U.S. environmental compliance programs and supports health, safety, EHS auditing and Process Safety Management (PSM) requirements, acting as subject matter expert in environmental regulations for facilities with regulated operations, including ammonia refrigeration systems.

Key responsibilities

• Manage personnel involved in shipping cheese and whey products to customers.
• Serve as the environmental subject-matter expert for U.S. operations and represent Agropur in environmental forums, regulatory engagements and external discussions.
• Represent Agropur on environmental committees and provide feedback on priorities and non-compliance trends to the board and management.
• Supervise assigned resources such as an Environmental Manager and PSM Coordinator, and coordinate with site Safety Managers and site champions.
• Develop and maintain the U.S. environmental management system, including legal compliance tracking, impact and risk assessments, site evaluations and audits.
• Ensure compliance with U.S. environmental laws and regulations across sites, including permitting, reporting, inspections and corrective actions.
• Lead or support corporate environmental projects such as emissions reduction, waste minimization and resource efficiency.
• Shape the framework for Agropur's environmental file and supervise it with management and the Environmental Committee approval.
• Communicate environmental risks and requirements clearly, support incident investigations and root cause analysis, and lead EHS audits (environmental compliance, OSHA safety, PSM).
• Prepare environmental communications to regulators and internal communications to employees, and build relationships with federal, state and local authorities.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in a related field required; equivalent education and/or experience may be considered.
• At least seven years of experience in environmental compliance or EHS roles within U.S. manufacturing or industrial environments.
• Master's degree or certifications preferred.
• Adequate knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec.
