Senior Inspector

About the role

The Senior Inspector conducts detailed, complex inspections of multi‑discipline public works, waterworks and utility construction projects, ensuring compliance with plans, specifications, and regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Perform inspections of water facility construction projects, integrating plans, details and specifications.
• Prepare project inspection reports and assist in the change‑order process.
• Attend design reviews, pre‑construction and progress meetings, including those affecting transmission system rights‑of‑way.
• Monitor construction activities within rights‑of‑way to protect transmission lines, fiber optic, telemetry cable and related structures.
• Travel pipeline inspection routes and perform related field duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Knowledge of applicable laws, codes (ACI, NEC, AWWA, ASTM), engineering principles, water system operation, safety procedures, and surveying methods.
• Ability to analyze complex construction plans, operate a wide range of surveying and testing equipment, and enforce regulations with tact.
• Four years as an Inspector II or six years as a project inspector in the waterworks industry, plus completion of LVVWD advanced inspector training.
• Valid Nevada driver’s license and insurability under the District’s vehicle insurance policy.

Required skills

• Nuclear density gauge operation certification (Troxler or equivalent).
• American Concrete Institute Field Testing Technician, Grade I.
• LVVWD Advanced Inspection Training Course certification.
• Nevada State Water Distribution Operator Grade II or Water Treatment Operator Grade II (or AWWA equivalent).
• American Construction Inspectors Association (ACIA) Registered Construction Inspector certification (Division I – Engineering or Division IV – Public Works).
