Senior HVAC Technician – Central Energy Plant

About the role

Under limited supervision, the Senior HVAC Technician serves as a Lead/Senior HVAC Technician for the Central Energy Plant (CEP) providing lead‑level expertise in HVAC service, maintenance, and repair with an emphasis on quality work, performed safely and efficiently. Maintains 24‑hour emergency on‑call availability.

Key responsibilities

• Installs, maintains and repairs heating, ventilating and air‑conditioning systems as the lead technician.
• Supervises HVAC Tech I and II personnel.
• Performs chiller and boiler repairs and routine maintenance.
• Inspects completed work for compliance with building and safety codes.
• Communicates operational issues and concerns to upper management.
• Provides management with relevant information about the CEP.
• Plans and schedules facility maintenance activities.
• Maintains equipment records, shop manuals and daily problem logs.
• Handles administrative duties (work schedules, memos, leave approvals) in the absence of the CEP Manager.
• Coordinates plant shutdowns with service contractors and GBA.
• Operates computer control systems, monitors gauges and adjusts operations to stay within standards.
• Works collaboratively to foster a cooperative work environment.
• Operates a motor vehicle to transport tools and equipment as needed.

Required profile

• Associate degree in a related field or four years of relevant experience in engineering, maintenance, renovation, and construction of facilities, or one year as a Facility Maintenance Engineer 2 (FEP041) equivalent.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States and pass pre‑employment background, motor‑vehicle records, and drug‑screening checks.
