About the role
The Environmental Project Assessor leads the direction, completion, and outcome of assigned building assessment projects in accordance with ASTM standards and client scopes. The role requires strong knowledge of construction, technical standards, and on‑site interaction with clients and municipal facilities. Travel to client sites across the U.S. is a core component.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct on‑site assessments and produce written reports covering Property Condition Assessments, Phase I Environmental Site Assessments, asbestos/lead/radon sampling, seismic and structural surveys, roofing surveys, ADA checklists, and construction monitoring.
- Review historical and regulatory records, previous assessment reports, and property documents to identify past uses and compliance issues.
- Communicate with local Building, Zoning, and Fire Departments to verify violations and required corrective actions.
- Travel up to 50% of the workweek by plane, vehicle, or train, often with overnight stays.
- Maintain project communication with leadership, providing updates on issues, timelines, and report delivery.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field with at least three years of relevant experience, or five years of experience in lieu of a degree.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Preferred certifications: AHERA, Asbestos Inspector, or OSHA 40‑hour.
Required skills
- Proficiency with ASTM standards and related assessment protocols.
- Experience conducting Property Condition Assessments and Phase I Environmental Site Assessments.
- Technical ability to perform asbestos, lead, and radon sampling.
- Competence in seismic, structural, and roofing surveys.
- Knowledge of ADA compliance checklists and construction monitoring.
- Strong technical report writing using electronic devices (computer, iPad).
