Senior Health Data Informaticist (Compass)

About the role

Veeva Systems is seeking a Senior Health Data Informaticist to lead the design, management, and maintenance of reference data assets in the Terminology Reference Library (TRL). You will ensure high‑quality, standardized data that supports therapeutic area frameworks and a comprehensive reference data library across Compass products.

Key responsibilities

• Curate, standardize, and validate medical and pharmacy claims data using coding standards such as ICD‑10, CPT/HCPCS, NDC, RxNorm, and ATC.
• Design, maintain, and document hierarchical structures, taxonomies, and vocabularies, including therapeutic area frameworks and diagnosis/procedure groupings.
• Develop business rules, validation routines, and clinical logic to support reliable analytics and product use.
• Troubleshoot complex data issues, ensuring data integrity, system reliability, and compliance with HIPAA.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Health Informatics, Biomedical Informatics, Pharmacy, Life Sciences, Public Health, or a related field.
• 5+ years of hands‑on experience with healthcare data systems, clinical vocabularies, coding systems, and payer data.
• Proven ability to design, maintain, and govern complex hierarchical structures such as taxonomies and ontologies.

Required skills

• Strong SQL skills and experience with data modeling, transformation, and aggregation on large healthcare datasets.
• Deep expertise in drug classification and coding systems (NDC, RxNorm, ATC) and diagnostic/procedural code sets (ICD‑10‑CM, ICD‑10‑PCS, CPT, HCPCS).
• Familiarity with terminology or ontology management tools (e.g., Apelon, SNOMED CT browsers) and data governance platforms (e.g., Collibra, Informatica).
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, R, or SAS.
