Senior Environmental Engineer – Water & Biodiversity

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Environmental Engineer with deep expertise in water management and biodiversity to support our Turquoise Ridge operation. The role ensures compliance with all water‑related permits, drives wildlife and biodiversity initiatives, and upholds the highest safety and environmental standards.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise compliance systems for water pollution control, drinking water, stormwater, artificial pond, and dewatering permits.
• Conduct operational inspections and accompany regulatory inspectors during site visits.
• Guide and report on hydrologic investigations.
• Lead complex permitting projects, reviewing design packages and modification applications.
• Coordinate permitting activities and support operational staff in achieving their goals.
• Train employees, contractors, and stakeholders on environmental procedures.
• Mentor and develop Environmental Engineers, Specialists, and Technicians.
• Oversee wildlife management, including the Eagle Action Plan, and liaise with government agencies.
• Develop biodiversity management strategies to achieve net‑neutral impact.
• Ensure alignment with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards.
• Provide after‑hours on‑call support for environmental incidents.
• Assist with well‑drilling and design activities and coordinate contractor projects.

Required profile

• Senior‑level experience in environmental engineering within mining or similar industries.
• Proven expertise in water management, permitting, and compliance monitoring.
• Knowledge of wildlife and biodiversity regulations.
• Ability to work safely on uneven, rocky, wet or icy terrain and lift 40 lb regularly.
• Strong leadership, mentoring, and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
• Experience implementing ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 environmental management systems.
