Senior Environmental Engineer - Lands

About the role

Nevada Gold Mines is looking for a Senior Environmental Engineer with deep expertise in land‑based closure planning and permitting to lead its environmental team at the Cortez operation. The role combines technical leadership, regulatory compliance and stakeholder communication to ensure safe and sustainable mine closure.

Key responsibilities

• Lead development and execution of comprehensive site closure plans, including required studies and mitigation activities.
• Manage reclamation permits, cost models, surety bonds and long‑term trusts for the site.
• Ensure financial compliance by tracking and reporting reclamation liabilities in line with corporate standards.
• Coordinate the cultural resource program with archaeology consultants and federal/state authorities.
• Interpret monitoring data on water quality, geochemistry, vegetation and material characterization.
• Collaborate with engineering, mine‑planning and permitting teams to secure federal and state permits.
• Communicate monitoring results and closure strategies to federal, state and other stakeholders.
• Participate in planning, design, budgeting and supervision of environmental compliance projects.
• Lead and mentor assigned environmental engineers and technicians.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Mine Engineering, Environmental Science, Geology, Hydrology, Ecology or a related field.
• Minimum five years of experience in permitting, mine planning, environmental compliance or reclamation/closure.
• At least three years of supervisory experience.
• Exceptional verbal, written and presentation abilities.
