Senior EMC Design Engineer

About the role

The Senior EMC Design Engineer will develop electrical vehicle systems and hardware ECUs across multiple technology domains. Based in Irvine, the role works closely with cross‑functional teams to ensure all designs meet stringent electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) specifications.

Key responsibilities

• Review electrical and mechanical designs for compliance with EMC commercial specifications and real‑world survivability.
• Write and execute test plans for low‑voltage and high‑voltage electrical, RF, and instrumentation hardware.
• Identify and document ECU‑level susceptibilities to ESD, transients, radiated and conducted emissions.
• Collaborate with electrical and mechanical design engineers to develop ECUs within EMC limits.
• Define and validate ECU‑level bonding, grounding, and shielding specifications.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
• 5‑7 years of hands‑on experience with electrical hardware and test equipment.
• Advanced degree (Master’s/PhD) in RF circuit, antenna design, or applied electromagnetics is a plus.
• Experience with automotive or complex vehicle test planning and certification.

Required skills

• EMC/EMI analysis and testing.
• LV and HV electrical testing.
• RF testing and instrumentation.
• Oscilloscopes, signal/spectrum analyzers, network analyzers.
• Circuit component knowledge: MOSFETs, DC‑DC regulator ICs, FPGAs, memories.
• Reading and interpreting schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Power‑supply and voltage/current regulator design.
• Transmission‑line design.
• Automotive EMI/EMC standards: IEC 61000, CISPR 25, CISPR 12, CISPR 16, ISO 11452‑x, ISO 7637‑x, FCC Part 15, UNECE Reg 10.
• Circuit design and PCBA layout.
