Senior Embedded Software Engineer – Lighting

About the role

We are looking for a senior embedded software engineer to lead the design and integration of exterior and interior lighting systems for Rivian and Volkswagen vehicle platforms. The role combines software development, hardware bring‑up and validation to deliver robust lighting features for next‑generation electric vehicles.

Key responsibilities

• Own the software design, development and testing of lighting control systems for both exterior and interior applications.
• Lead scalable code architecture across multiple vehicle platforms and future programs.
• Collaborate with system engineering to ensure requirements traceability to code and test cases.
• Participate in hardware and schematic reviews, verify software compatibility with new hardware.
• Mentor junior engineers and ensure efficient use of RAM, compute and flash resources.
• Conduct hardware bring‑up, bench testing and board‑level verification.
• Develop validation strategies, calibration plans and comprehensive test cases for unit, SIL and HIL environments.
• Prioritize and resolve issues based on impact and program objectives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (Master’s preferred).
• 5+ years of experience with automotive control systems.
• Proven track record delivering embedded software for vehicle lighting or related domains.

Required skills

• Proficiency in C and Python programming.
• Experience with Linux and real‑time operating systems (RTOS).
• Strong knowledge of embedded systems architecture and microcontroller design.
• Understanding of data structures and low‑level hardware interaction.
• Hands‑on experience with bench testing, board‑level verification, SIL and HIL testing.
