Senior Electrical Engineer – Navigation & Positioning Systems

About the role

Saronic Technologies, a leader in autonomous maritime solutions, is looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer to spearhead R&D of navigation and positioning systems for its fleet of autonomous vessels. The role combines hands‑on hardware development, system‑level benchmarking and close collaboration with autonomy, software and mechanical teams.

Key responsibilities

• Lead research and development initiatives for next‑generation navigation and positioning solutions.
• Design and execute benchmarking tests of GNSS, INS/IMU, radar, LiDAR, Doppler velocity logs and other sensors in lab, dockside and sea‑trial environments.
• Perform trade studies and comparative analyses of commercial and prototype systems to guide sensor selection and integration.
• Develop system architectures and interface specifications for integrating navigation sensors with vessel control and data‑processing subsystems.
• Prototype, test and validate new electrical configurations supporting advanced sensing and positioning.
• Author technical reports and white papers summarising results and recommendations.
• Collaborate with autonomy, software and mechanical teams to ensure seamless sensor fusion and data pipeline integrity.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to internal R&D roadmaps and IP generation.

Required profile

• B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related discipline.
• 7+ years of professional experience in electrical systems engineering, preferably in marine, aerospace, automotive or defense.
• Demonstrated expertise with navigation and positioning technologies such as GNSS, INS/IMU, radar, LiDAR or sensor fusion.
• Proven experience in system‑level benchmarking, experimental R&D and trade‑study development.
• Strong understanding of signal integrity, timing synchronization and sensor data acquisition.
