Senior Electrical Engineer – Maritime Acoustic Sensor Systems

About the role

Saronic Technologies is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead research and development of maritime acoustic sensor systems for autonomous surface vessels. The role combines analytical study, hardware design, and hands‑on testing in both laboratory and sea‑trial environments.

Key responsibilities

• Lead R&D projects on underwater acoustic sensing, including sonar arrays, hydrophones, and acoustic modems.
• Evaluate and benchmark commercial and defense‑grade acoustic sensors and subsystems.
• Design and execute experiments for performance testing, calibration, and environmental validation.
• Develop system architectures for acoustic data acquisition, amplification, filtering, and digital conversion.
• Collaborate with autonomy, software, and mechanical teams to integrate acoustic hardware into vessel control systems.
• Produce detailed R&D documentation, test reports, and design specifications.
• Support safety, reliability, and environmental qualification efforts in line with maritime and defense standards.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the acoustic sensing roadmap.

Required profile

• B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Acoustics, or a related field.
• 7+ years of experience in acoustic system design, integration, or testing, preferably in marine or defense applications.
• Proven ability to conduct hardware benchmarking, R&D testing, and performance analysis.
