Senior Electrical Engineer – Autonomous Maritime Systems

About the role

Saronic Technologies is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead the design, specification and validation of electrical and electronic systems for autonomous maritime platforms. The role focuses on creating ruggedized architectures that operate reliably under extreme marine conditions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead design, specification and validation of electrical subsystems including power distribution, computing, sensing and communications for autonomous vessels.
• Create engineering drawings such as one‑line diagrams, ladder schematics and networking diagrams.
• Select or design components suitable for harsh environments and conduct trade studies with technologies from automotive, defense and mining sectors.
• Develop system requirements, perform environmental qualification and ensure compliance with shock, vibration and thermal standards.
• Collaborate with mechanical, software and autonomy teams to integrate systems and support prototype builds, troubleshooting and sea trials.
• Document designs, test reports and integration standards, and mentor junior engineers.

Required profile

• B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• 7+ years of experience designing electrical and electronic systems for marine, industrial or safety‑critical environments.
• Proven expertise in rugged electrical system design, power distribution and network architecture.
• Strong technical documentation skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with schematic and design tools such as AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks Electrical or Zuken.
• Knowledge of low‑voltage AC (<1000 VAC) and DC (12 V/24 V/48 V) power distribution.
• Experience with fieldbus protocols: Ethernet, CAN, RS485, RS232.
• Understanding of EMI/EMC design principles and mitigation techniques.
