Senior Concrete Estimator

About the role

Big-D Self-Perform is seeking a Senior Concrete Estimator to join its growing preconstruction team in Tempe, AZ or Salt Lake City, UT. The role focuses on producing accurate, well‑organized estimates for concrete scopes and supports the team’s design‑build and hard‑bidding projects.

Key responsibilities

• Define work scopes and select subcontractors in collaboration with the senior estimator.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and assemble estimates using Timberline and OnScreen Takeoff.
• Lead hard‑bidding projects and organize scopes in the bid‑day program.
• Develop conceptual estimates throughout the CM process (program, schematic, DD, CD).
• Interpret CPM schedules, translate them into construction budgets, and communicate expectations to subcontractors.
• Maintain relationships with subcontractors and consider them in decision‑making.
• Participate in value‑engineering sessions, forecast meetings, and track budget versus actual costs.
• Support turnover processes and financial risk management for subcontractor bids.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 5+ years of estimating experience in the construction industry, preferably with concrete, excavation, or earthwork.
• Strong knowledge of the Utah and Arizona subcontractor market.
• Excellent attention to detail, time‑management, and profit‑orientation.
• Clear written and verbal communication and ability to work well in a team.

Required skills

• Proficiency with OnScreen Takeoff (OST).
• Experience using Timberline for quantity takeoffs and estimate assembly.
• Strong command of Microsoft Office Suite.
• Familiarity with Bluebeam for document review and markup.
