Senior Civil Engineer – Concrete Structures

About the role

Radiant, a startup developing portable nuclear micro‑reactors, is looking for a Senior Civil Engineer to lead the design of concrete and precast structural systems for its manufacturing and deployment facilities. The role focuses on creating robust, safe, and efficient concrete structures that can withstand extreme thermal and seismic conditions.

Key responsibilities

• Own the design of critical concrete structures such as spent‑fuel dry‑cask storage, foundations, and precast elements.
• Perform trade studies and develop solutions for static, thermal, and seismic loading requirements.
• Conduct detailed structural analyses using hand calculations and finite‑element tools (Abaqus, Ansys, SAP2000, etc.).
• Develop and execute construction, fabrication, and testing plans for both cast‑in‑place and precast components.
• Create and manage Bills‑of‑Materials, source suppliers, and oversee fabrication schedules.
• Lead risk assessments (FMEA) for concrete subsystems and coordinate with cross‑functional engineering teams.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
• 5+ years of experience designing concrete or reinforced‑concrete structures.
• 4+ years of experience performing structural analysis with hand calculations and finite‑element software.

Required skills

• Proficiency with finite‑element analysis tools such as Abaqus, Ansys, or SAP2000.
• Strong knowledge of reinforced‑concrete and precast concrete design principles.
• Experience creating Bills‑of‑Materials and conducting FMEA risk analyses.
