Senior Audio Visual Technician

About the role

The University of Miami seeks a Senior Audio Visual Technician to deliver AV services and system support across classrooms, learning spaces, and live events. The role involves setting up, operating, maintaining, and repairing AV equipment, as well as recording and editing multimedia content for the university community.

Key responsibilities

• Assist faculty, speakers, and staff with AV devices, presentation software, and equipment configuration.
• Perform routine checks, maintenance, and repairs of all AV equipment, coordinating with vendors when needed.
• Record lectures, seminars, and events; conduct basic video editing and upload recordings to university websites.
• Provide group and individual training on AV equipment usage and maintain procedural documentation.
• Manage inventory, order consumables, and ensure equipment is up‑to‑date with emerging AV technologies.
• Support teleconferences, webinars, and distance‑learning classes, including live‑streaming and digital signage.

Required profile

• Associate degree in a relevant field (Bachelor’s preferred).
• Minimum 3 years of relevant AV experience.
• Valid unrestricted Florida driver’s license for travel to satellite facilities.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, nights, and weekends.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams.

• Crestron control systems (design and programming knowledge).
• Live‑stream services and digital signage applications.
• Audio mixing, video recording, projector, lighting, and microphone operation.
• Video editing software and media file management (videotapes, DVDs, digital formats).
• Mac OS and Windows operating systems.
• Inventory tracking and AV equipment maintenance.
