Senior Aircraft Technician – Mechanical (Contract)

About the role

Airbus Helicopters is seeking a Senior Aircraft Technician (Mechanical) to join the New Helicopter Completions (NHC) team in Columbus, MS. The role involves detailed inspection, assembly, installation, repair or replacement of helicopter components and systems, as well as maintenance, refurbishing and functional checks.

Key responsibilities

• Provide aircraft maintenance support for new helicopter completions, STC development, training fleet and demonstrations.
• Perform detailed assembly, installation, repair, adjustment, alignment and track‑and‑balance of rotor systems, including vibration analysis.
• Diagnose malfunctions, conduct troubleshooting and execute corrective actions to ensure safety and airworthiness.
• Carry out airframe calendar/hourly inspections, hidden‑damage inspections, and disassembly/reassembly as required for aircraft movement.

Required profile

• Minimum six years of experience as an aviation mechanic, preferably with helicopter maintenance.
• US person under ITAR (U.S. citizen, green‑card holder, or covered by existing ITAR license).
• Ability to read, write and speak English.
• A&P license preferred but not required.

• Aircraft inspection and hidden‑damage detection.
• Assembly, installation and repair of helicopter components.
• Troubleshooting and diagnostics of mechanical systems.
• Rotor system track and balance, vibration analysis.
• Interpretation of blueprints, sketches and engineering diagrams.
• Use of production tools and hydraulic lifts.
