Security Officer

About the role

The Security Officer protects the university community by assisting law enforcement, maintaining a visible security presence, and enforcing parking regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Patrol designated areas to deter and discover criminal activity.
• Report incidents, emergencies, and suspicious activity to police or communications.
• Issue parking citations, direct traffic flow, and assist motorists.
• Perform building checks for fires, leaks, and security, and lock/unlock facilities as needed.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
• Ability to walk campus distances, climb stairs, and lift up to 25 lb.
• Clear criminal history; certain convictions disqualify applicants.

Required skills

• Understanding and applying rules, regulations, and policies.
• Effective verbal communication via radio.
• Computer keyboard proficiency for report preparation.
