Security Officer – Campus Safety

About the role

Serve and protect the university community by assisting law enforcement, maintaining a visible security presence, and enforcing parking regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Patrol designated areas to prevent, discover and deter crime.
• Report matters requiring police action to communications or officers.
• Issue parking citations, direct traffic flow and assist motorists.
• Apply vehicle immobilization devices and assist with vehicle issues as required.
• Patrol buildings and grounds for fires, water leaks and general security.
• Unlock and lock buildings according to university schedules and provide information to visitors, students and faculty.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
• Effective verbal communication by radio and ability to prepare accurate written reports.
• Physical ability to walk campus distances, climb stairs and lift up to 25 lb.
• Flexibility to work varied days, shifts and overtime as needed.
